Traumatic Elbow Luxation of 2-Y old Katy chihuahua

History

1.Katy, 3.5 kg b.wt female chihuahua, was presented to us with acute onset of lifting right hind limb after a trauma.

Orthopedic Examination

1.Hip laxity is so evident with complete luxation of the femoral head out of the pelvic socket (Acetabulum)

Radiographic Examination

1.Traumatic hip luxation of the right hip joint with intact acetabulum, femoral head and neck

Recommendations

1.Surgical interference & open reduction of the luxated femoral head with Toggle pin fixation technique.

2.A second surgical option is FHO (femoral head and neck ostectomy).
